Wishing everyone a warm and happy Thanksgiving! A time to share food with each other and reflect on all of the things we’re grateful for. Canadian Thanksgiving historically celebrates the fall harvest among other things and has its complex origins in established Indigenous traditions and early settler traditions from Europe.
It is thought that the Mi’kmaq introduced French settlers to the fall harvest crop - cranberries, which are rich in vitamin C. Unknown to everyone at the time, this helped them to avoid scurvy!
